Rita Kay Crouse, 74, Meriden, went home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at a local hospital.
Rita was born November 14, 1938 in Cainsville, MO, the daughter of Charles and Dorothy (Meinecke) Johnson. She graduated from Cainsville High School.
Rita married Gilbert Crouse on March 17, 1956 in Cainsville, MO.
She is survived by her husband, Gilbert, of the home. Other survivors include daughters, Deborah (Steve) Shaffer, Pueblo, CO, Vicki Simmons, Topeka, Lisa (Steve) Peavler, Topeka; and son, Gilbert Crouse, Jr., Lewistown, MT; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Philip (JoAnn) Johnson, Princeton, MO, Michael (Dierdra)Johnson, Oak Creek, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rita was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family, including attending her children and grandchildren's activities and sporting events. She enjoyed golfing, traveling and her beloved pets. She was a member of the Meriden United Methodist Church.
A Memorial Service, in celebration of her life, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 19 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1320 SW 10th Ave, Topeka. Private family inurnment will be at a later date.
