Riley Elliott Pfannenstiel, 18, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at his home in Topeka, Ks surrounded by his family and friends after a courageous 18 month battle with brain cancer.
Riley was born on November 23, 1999 in Topeka, Kansas the son of Patti Elliott and Ken Pfannenstiel.
Riley was a 2018 graduate of Topeka High School, where he graduated with Superior Honors. He was a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta. He was named a Kansas Honor Scholar and was a 2018 recipient of the USD 501 LEAP award. As a Topeka High Web design member he was involved in various community web design projects. He was a member of the Topeka High baseball team as well as Ken Berry summer league baseball. He also spent 3 summers volunteering at Stormont Vail Health Care.
Riley was a gifted scholar and had dreams of attending medical school and becoming a surgeon. He had a love for music of all genres and generations, and loved watching the Kansas City Royals.
Riley will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul who had a love for his family and friends like no other. He had the kindest smile and gave the best hugs ever. He was selfless and even while going through the toughest of times himself, he wanted to help others. He had a way of making you see things through others eyes and truly wanted to make the world a better place.
Riley recently accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized into the Catholic Church.
He is survived by his mother, Patti Elliott (Don Fincham); father, Ken Pfannenstiel (Mindi); brother, Justin Rangel, sister, Kendra Rangel; step-sisters, Meghan Weis (Matt), Rebekah Droege (Dustin), Tasha Poort (J.T.); step-brother, Brandon Fincham; grandparents, Joyce Elliott, John Rangel, Mike Pfannenstiel (Cindy), Connie Steinlage (Dennis) and Mitzi Patterson; two nieces; three nephews as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Riley is preceded in death by his grandparents, William "Bill" Elliott, Alice Rangel and Bill Patterson.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 1, 2018 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 201 NE Chandler, Topeka, KS. A parish rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 2, 2018 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ronald McDonald House, Children's Mercy, Great Lakes Caring Hospice, or Kid's Wish Network, in Riley's honor.
