Richard A. "Lindy" Lindburg, 94, of Topeka passed away Monday, August 7, 2006 at McCrite Plaza.
He was born October 15, 1911 in Osage City, the son of August E. and JoHannah Johnson Lindburg.
He came to Topeka in 1941 and went to work for Anderson Bros. Produce Company and the Topeka Supply Depot at the Topeka Air Base. He then went to work for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., retiring after 31 and a half years. He worked at Falley's Market for 23 years and was a member of the United Rubber Workers Union. He was an avid bowler and outdoorsman.
He married Elsie Coxen on October 26, 1933 in Emporia. She survives. He was preceded in death by his siblings.
Other survivors include three daughters, Jean Hackathorn (Kenneth), Nancy Moore and Dorothy Rowley of Topeka; a son, Richard D. Lindburg (Cheryl) of Topeka; 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Mr. Lindburg will lie in state after 1:00 pm, Wednesday, August 9 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will greet friends from 7:00 to 8:00 pm that evening. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, August 10 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
