Richard L. "Dick" Malloy, 68, Topeka, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003 at Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 10, 1935 in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of Audrey Donald and Retha Bishop Malloy. He moved with his family to Derby, Ks in 1950, and graduated from Derby High School in 1954. Following high school, he joined the US Army and was discharged in 1956.
Mr. Malloy worked for Boeing Aircraft Company, Wichita, from 1956 to 1964. He then became President of District Lodge #70 Machinists AFL/CIO, and served until 1968. He became Appointments Secretary to Gov. Robert Docking and served from 1968-1973. He became Tecumseh Township Superintendent from 1975 until his retirement in 1998.
He was a member of Siloam Lodge #225 AF&AM, Scottish Rite Bodies, Arab Shrine, Nomad Campers, and was a founding member of the Dirty Dozen.
He married Edna A. Hill on Jan. 26, 1957 in Wichita. She survives. Other survivors include 2 daughters, Pamela Harris and husband, Bill, of Burlingame and Michele Dawn Malloy of Wetmore; 2 sons, Roy Lee Malloy and wife, Rita, of Topeka and Richard Lee Malloy, Jr. and wife, Ruth, of Silver Lake; sister, Donna Rowland of Wichita; 7 grandchildren, Melissa Neff, Kelly Godfredson, Blake Malloy, Mike Malloy, Evan Malloy, Justin Malloy, and Dylan Fund; 3 Great-grandchil;dren, Brooke Neff, Austin Neff, and Braiden Godfredson. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Lance Allen Jenkins and two brothers, Jim and Bob Malloy.
Services will be 11:00 am Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Cremation will follow. Private inurnment will be in Zion Cemetery, Tecumseh.
Mr. Malloy will lie in state after 9 am Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6-8 pm.
