Richard Kingman

Richard W. Kingman, 74, Topeka, died Sunday, November 2, 2003 at a local retirement home. He was born September 5, 1929 in Topeka, the son of Seth P. Kingman and Louise Watson Kingman.
Mr. Kingman graduated from Washburn Rural High School in 1947 and Washburn University in 1952. He was an officer in the United States Marine Corp, where he served in Japan and Korea. He was employed by PL Dale Contractor, Garden City, Kansas, and Robert E. McKee Construction in Manhattan, Kansas, Allied Engineering in Topeka and was partner in Kramer Engineering in Topeka for 28 years. He established his own surveying business in 1984. Mr. Kingman was a member of both the Kansas and Missouri Land Surveyors Associations. He served as the President of the Kansas State Society of Land Surveyors and was a member of the Board of Directors.
Mr. Kingman was an avid airplane modeler and devoted a lifetime enjoying and sharing his interests. He was a long time member of the Capital City RC Modelers organization and the Blue Sky Squadron of IMAA Scale Modelers Club. He was also a Boy Scout advisor, a previous member of the Breakfast Optimist Club and enjoyed a lifelong interest in American History as a member of the Santa Fe Trail and Oregon Trail Associations. He was a member of Countryside United Methodist Church for many years.
Richard Kingman and Barbara Kramer were married in Topeka on January 28, 1953.
Survivors include his wife; brother, Harold Kingman, Safford, Arizona; son, Mark Kingman and wife, Sheryl, Topeka; daughter Melissa and husband Mark Rau, Topeka ; grandchildren, Lindsay Kingman, Jason Kingman and John Rau.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 7, 2003 at Penwell Gable Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Mr. Kingman will lie in state after 12:00 noon Thursday and the family will greet friends from 6:00-7:30 Thursday at the funeral home.
