Richard E. Kopp, 84, of Topeka, Kansas died January 15, 2015 under hospice care at Midland House.
Born December 10, 1930 to Walter and Ethel Kopp, he was raised in Harveyville, Kansas.
Richard served in the Army in the Korean War. He and wife Virginia Palmer Kopp have made their home in Topeka since 1954. He worked at Goodyear 32 years, retiring June 1, 1995. He also served as a union steward for the URW 307 for many years. He enjoyed spending time with family, having coffee with friends, reading, attending grandkids' sporting events and watching Jayhawk basketball.
Richard was preceded in death by siblings, Gerald Kopp and Jean Ecklund. He is survived by wife Virginia; brothers, Robert Kopp, Osage City, KS, and Earl Kopp, Harveyville, KS; daughter, Kim Doucette and grandsons, Luke and Parker, Mercer Island, WA; daughter, Kristy Kopp and husband Greg Sharp and grandsons, Kameron, Karson and Kole, Lawrence, KS.
To celebrate Richard's life, the family will receive friends starting at 10:00 a.m. with a service following at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 24 at the Mount Hope Chapel, 4700 SW 17th St., Topeka.
A private inurnment will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery at a later date.
