Richard Lee "Dick" Douglass, 75, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at Midland Hospice House.
Dick was born October 11, 1941, in Topeka, KS, to Richard Wayne and Norma Jean (York) Douglass. He graduated from Curtis Junior High and Topeka High School in 1960. Dick married Linda Louise Sicks on May 13, 1967, in Topeka, KS. Together they had two daughters. He worked for many years at Noller Ford and owned and operated his own auto repair shop. He retired from Aldersgate Retirement Village as a transportation specialist. Dick loved hot rods, cruise nights and car shows with his car buddies, music of all eras, world history, fishing, camping, and collecting guns. Above everything, he loved his wife, daughters, and grandchildren.
Dick is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mechelle (Kevin) Hogan and Kristina Douglass; seven grandchildren, Zachary and Kassandra Hogan, and Branden (Kaitlyn), Tyler, Andrew, Taylor, and Brett Ball; three great-grandchildren, Kaysen, Brantley and Evelyn; and one sister, Gwen (Jeff) Mayer.
He was preceded in death by parents; and one sister, Lani Jeanne Douglass.
A celebration on life/car show for Dick will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2017, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka. Inurnment will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. To honor Dick, please drive your hot rods and classics.
