Richard Crichton Dempster, died May 26, 2005 in Topeka, KS.
He was born July 16, 1927 at Mennonite Hospital in Beatrice, NE., the son of Clyde B. and Anna Irene Schroeder Dempster.
Richard attended high school in Scottsbluff, NE. He attended the University of Nebraska and received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Suffolk University in Boston, MA.
He served in the U.S. Navy in the Asiatic Pacific in World War II, following which he served eight years in the Naval Reserve.
Richard spent many years as a resident of Topeka. He was a member of the Metropolitan Community Church, was involved in the arts community, and served as a volunteer with the Topeka AIDS Project. He was an avid swimmer and bridge player.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Phoebe Hamann, Survivors include nephews, William R. (Rick) Hamann and Charles W.D. (Chip) Hamann, and a niece, Lynn B. Roberts.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at the Metropolitan Community Church, 4425 SW 19th, Topeka, Kansas 66604.
