Richard D. Evans, 69, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2014, after a 30 year courageous journey with cancer.
Richard D. Evans was born June 4, 1945, in San Diego, California, son of Frank and Ruth Evans.
He attended San Diego State University, Golden Gate Seminary, and received his PhD from Northwestern University.
Richard married Beth M. Brady on September 20, 1981, in Winfield, Kansas. They lived in Winfield for 20 years, and later moved to Andover for six years. They have resided in Topeka since 2003.
He worked at Binney-Smith, Crayola Crayon Factory for twenty years. Richard worked at ICS in Andover for a year before becoming an executive recruiter.
Richard is survived by his wife of almost 33 years, Beth Evans, of Topeka; daughters, Allison (Chris) Norris (Gpa to Bailey), of Wichita; Heidi Evans, of Oklahoma City, OK; Natalie Evans VanZanten (her children, Tevya and Omar), of Chicago, Illinois; sister, Ruth Robin, of Escondido, California; and two nieces and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Robert Evans.
The family would like to thank family and friends for their love, support, and comfort during this time.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at First United Methodist Church, Topeka. Private family inurnment will be at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka.
