Richard B. Taylor
Richard B. "Dick" Taylor, 94, of Topeka, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 27, 2009, at Midland Hospice House. He was born in Topeka, KS June 8, 1915.
He graduated from Highland Park High School.
Richard married Dorothy J. Root on May 13, 1939, in Topeka.
She survives.
After High School he worked at several businesses until the mid 1940's when he went to work for Vincent Roofing Co. In 1958, he purchased Warren Roofing Co. then in 1966, changed the name to Taylor Roofing Co. until his retirement in 1989.
He was a 50 year plus member of Shawnee Country Club; long time member of the Elks, and the Arab Shrine, its Golf Unit and Jesters.
Other survivors include a son, Richard P. Taylor (Dorothy) and daughter, Diana S. Bigham (Jerry) of Topeka; 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 1 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to service.
