Reverend Kevin J. Williams, 61, Topeka, passed away from natural causes on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Kevin was born September 15, 1948 in Auburn, NY, the son of Loyal and Winifred (Catheral) Williams. He graduated from Campus High School in Haysville in 1967. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era.
He was ordained in the United Methodist Church after graduation from St. Paul School of Theology in Kansas City. He began his pastoral ministry in 1984, serving churches in Almena, Long Island, Jetmore, Hanston, Abilene, Louisburg, Lawrence, and Grantville. He was a graduate of the Beeson Institute for Advanced Church Leadership and had recently retired on July 1, 2010.
Kevin married Kathryn Latimer on January 29, 1972. She survives. Other survivors include daughters, Heather (Barry) Kingery, Lindsey Williams, all of Lawrence; sons, Chris (Tracy) Williams, Haysville, Joseph Serwadda, Topeka; grandchildren, Eden, Avery, Meara, Carter, Madison; brother, David (Karen) Williams, Turlock, CA; sisters, Sharon Williams, Shiela (Dale) Goostree, Gayle (Leonard) Reeser, Teresa (Larry) Smith, all of Wichita; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Lowman United Methodist Church. Private family inurnment will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in Haysville.
Memorial contributions may be made to N.T. Network for the "Joseph's Dream" educational scholarship fund.
Kevin deeply impacted hundreds of families during his ministry and will be greatly missed.
