Reva M. Kuehn, 87, died Tuesday, November 11, 2008, at Brewster Place in Topeka.
The daughter of Munce and Mabel Johnson, she was born on August 14, 1921, near Thayer, KS. She graduated from Haddam High School and attended Strickler's Business College in Topeka.
She married Niles Kuehn, August 17, 1940; he died April 2,1994. She is survived by children, Marvin Kuehn of Emporia and Janet Degginger of Topeka; one brother, Harold Johnson of Los Alamitos, CA; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Two sisters and one brother died earlier.
Mrs. Kuehn was employed for twenty-two years as a professional/legal secretary in the office of the 1961 Centennial Commission, Governor John Anderson, the KS Attorney General, and the KS Supreme Court before her retirement in 1981.
Mrs. Kuehn was a member of the First Congregational Church, where she served as secretary, deaconess, and church historian. She also wrote for the monthly Brewster News and was the Brewster Place "historian" for twenty years.
Open to the public, a memorial reception to celebrate the life of Reva, will be held Tuesday, November 18, between 2:30 and 4:00 PM on the first floor of the main building at Brewster Place, 1205 SW 29th. She will lie in state on Monday, Nov. 17th from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel. Private burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions may be made in her name to Brewster Place; First Congregational Church, or a charity of the donor's choice.
