Retha Williams

Retha "Charlotte" Williams, 90, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Tues., March 11, 2008 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.

She was born in Kansas City, MO on Feb. 12, 1918 to "Goldie" and Grover Rhule. They later moved to Topeka where she spent the remainder of her life living in the same community.

Retha married Clinton B. Williams in Oskaloosa, KS on Feb. 5, 1936. He preceded her in death on January 23, 2000.

Mrs. Williams was a member of Wanamaker Club and West Side Christian Church.

She worked for many years at Duckwall's and later at Butner's IGA in Topeka.

Survivors include a son, George B. Williams and his wife, Elaine, Topeka; granddaughter Heather Hampton, Holton, a grandson Jon B. Williams, Topeka and three great grandsons, Mitchell, Conner and Brenden Hampton, Holton. Also surviving are a nephew, Robert Williams and his wife, Iris June, Bellingham, WA and a niece, Joyce Davis and her husband, Ken, Fairview, TN.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 14, 2008 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Williams will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. on Thurs., March 13, 2008 at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Topeka Rescue Mission or Alzheimer's Assn. in care of Penwell-Gabel.
