Raymond J. Vell, 92, of Topeka, died Thursday, December 2, 2004 at a Eudora care facility.
He was born May 24, 1912 at Claudell, KS ., the son of John F. and Luella Boston Vell.
He attended Washington High School. After high school, he was employed by Fairmont Foods, where he worked for thirty years. He then went to work for the State of Kansas in the Department of Weights and Measures.
He was a member of West Side Christian Church in Topeka. He was also a member of Church of Christ Christian Church of Council Grove.
He married Goldie Prall on August 31, 1932 at Washington, KS. She preceded him in death on January 13, 1997. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Marsha Mendel.
Survivors include a son, Donald C. Vell and his wife, Nancy of Cincinnati, OH; a sister, Ella Phoenix of Sacremento, CA, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Mr. Vell will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 5, 2004 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will greet friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. that evening.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday , December 6, at West Side Christian Church with burial to follow at Penwell-Gabel Memorial Park Cemetery.
