Raymond H. Lowrey, 87, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005 at Midland Hospice House from complications following heart surgery.
Mr. Lowrey was born Sept. 30, 1917 in Greenfield, Mo., the son of John T. and Cora Louise Lowrey. He moved with his family to Topeka in 1932.
Mr. Lowrey was an electrician from 1952 until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, LU 226.
Mr. Lowrey was an avid outdoorsman. He was an honorary member of Topeka Bowhunters, Inc. and was well known by area fishermen for the custom fishing rods he made for family and friends.
He was married Feb. 8, 1942 to Marjorie Grace Cearlock. He was preceded in death by his wife in 2000, and daughter Judy K. Knox, in 2001. Survivors include his sons: Larry Lowrey, Ron Lowrey, Richard Lowrey, and Dal Lowrey and his wife Karen all of Topeka, and son-in-law, Tom Knox of Kansas City, Mo., twelve grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Lowrey will lie in state after 2:00 p.m., Wed. March 2, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
A funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel 1321 SW 10th Ave. Topeka, KS. Interment will be in West Lawn Memorial Gardens.
