Raymond Calvert Goldsmith, 84, Topeka, passed away Monday, November 26, 2012.
He was born December 7, 1927 in Osawatomie, KS, the son of Joseph Edward and Lema Laverne (Addy) Goldsmith. He was a graduate of Goodland High School and Washburn University in 1968 with a bachelor's degree. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
Mr. Goldsmith was employed by Santa Fe Railroad for 34 years before retiring as an Environmental Chemist.
He was a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church, Topeka Engineers Club, VFW Post No 1650, American Legion Post No. 400, and the Mensa Society.
Raymond married Jeannette Mathis on May 26, 1950 in Ottawa, KS. She survives of the home. Other survivors include three sons, Michael Wayne (Lari) Goldsmith, Joseph Edward (Kathleen) Goldsmith, and John Clark (Janet) Goldsmith, all of Topeka; and 3 grandchildren, Ryan Kirkpatrick, Adam Scott, and Rayna Joanne Goldsmith.
Mr. Goldsmith has been cremated. A memorial ceremony will be 11 a.m., Thursday, November 29, 2012 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave, Topeka. Private inurnment will be at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka.
