Raymond "Ray" Emery, 91, of Carbondale, passed away Friday, July 14, 2023.
He was born September 12, 1931, in Parsons, Kansas, the son of Howard M. and Minnie B. (Oliver) Emery.
He attended schools at Coffeyville and Ark City.
Ray enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1950 and retired in 1970. He served as a Staff Sergeant working as a Chef. He served in many locations including Kansas, Texas, Utah, Colorado, England and Germany.
He also worked for the State of Kansas for 19 years as a Railroad Track Inspector.
Ray treasured his family and spending time with them. Ray enjoyed playing golf, hunting, camping, fishing. He went on many fishing trips with his son Lee, they even won 1st place with a 8.5lb Walleye. Ray also enjoyed playing cards with his friends.
Survivors include his daughter, Raynette (Edgar) Trout; grandchildren, Jenn (Jo) Hamblin, Heidi Murphy, Sarah (Dallas) Logan, Marla (Harley) Willard, Matt (Ashley) Emery, Greg Thalman, Steven Emery, Kayla Emery, and Kendra Emery; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters, Leewanda Cooke and Dortha Hargadine; close friend Joyce Hansen and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sons, Harry "Lee" Emery and Steven "Steve" Wayne Emery and his brother, Rex "Jack" Emery.
A Funeral Ceremony will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 22, 2023 at the Penwell-Gabel - Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka. The family will greet friends an hour prior to the service.
Burial with military honors will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Beagle Cemetery near Osawatomie, Kansas.
The family asks that you donate to your local fire department in Ray's honor.
