Raphael M. " Ray" Cunningham, 77, of Topeka passed away Sunday, October 30, 2005 at Midland Hospice House.
He was born May 31, 1928 in Delia, the son of James C. and Catherine L. Diehammer Cunningham.
He was a 1946 graduate of Delia High School. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He first retired from the Teamsters Local 696 and later retired from Washburn University.
He married Wilma J. Douglas on June 18, 1955 in Big Delta, Alaska. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Terri Hearrell and her husband Steven; a son Gary Cunningham and his wife Jeanette, five granddaughters; Jessica Lineberger, Cassie and Breanna Cunningham, Kristen and Adrienne Hearrell, and a brother, Jim Cunningham all of Topeka.
Mr. Cunningham will lie in state after 1:00 pm Wednesday, November 2, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 pm that evening. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, November 3 at University United Methodist Church with burial to follow in Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park Cemetery.
