Randy A. Flanagan went to be with the Lord on Sunday evening June 10, 2012, he was 49 years old.
Randy was born in Topeka, Kansas, on May 14, 1963, to his parents Marty Pufahl Flanagan and Dennis Flanagan. Randy was preceded in death by his brother Ryan Flanagan, grandparents DeWayne & Bernice Pufahl, Clarence & Francis Flanagan, and beloved father in law and friend Bob Harr, who went to be with the Lord on the same day as Randy.
Randy graduated from Shawnee Heights High School in 1981. He went on to attend K-State University, and later attended DeVry Institute.
Randy worked at Logan Business Machines in Topeka for many years. Following Logan Business Machines, Randy worked at Image Pro and later Century United where he finished his work career until his health declined and he could no longer work.
Randy was an advocate for health and fitness, which he demonstrated throughout his life and shared this passion with his son Brandon. Randy made many friends throughout the years, whether it was through his own participation in sports such as bowling, and slow pitch, he also loved coaching youth baseball and football as well. But the moments he treasured most were times spent with his children whether it be spending time with Breanne playing X-Box and watching her participate in the Topeka Passion Play, or time spent with Brandon involving his sports interests.
Family was very important to Randy, and during the final months of his life Randy found peace having everyone around him. Many people helped with Randy's transition throughout the past four years, and he was forever grateful. Randy fought a long brave battle with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). He was a strong man and had a zest for life. Randy will be remembered as a great husband, father, son, brother and friend. He appreciated his life on earth but knew that the end was inevitable, so he prepared for his new life with Jesus Christ in Heaven.
Randy is survived by his wife Mary Haney Flanagan, son Brandon Flanagan, daughter Breanne Flanagan all of the home; parents Marty Flanagan, Dennis & Linda Flanagan; and a sister Tonya Gill. Randy had five nieces and two nephews. Randy will be missed by all.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Leukemia Society or to the Flanagan children's educational fund at Educational Credit Union at 3623 SE 29th St. Topeka, Kansas 66605.
