Randell "Randy" Jones, 70, of Topeka, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2019 at his home.
He was born August 12, 1948, in Maryville, Missouri, the son of Wendell and Vida (Mackey) Jones.
He graduated in 1966 from Topeka West High School and went on to enlist in the United States Marine Corps after a year at Kansas State University. He was a machine gunner during the Vietnam War, having earned multiple purple hearts. He didn't let his 'disabilities' define who he was. If there was an obstacle in his way, he would find a way to overcome it.
Randy was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and shooting sporting clays. He was known for being adventurous, traveling all over the United States and South Africa.
After his retirement from the postal service, he became a full time grandpa. His grandchildren were the loves of his life. Above all else, he enjoyed his family and became his wife's and son's biggest hero.
Randy met the love of his life on a blind date, he later married her. On December 27, 1970 in Topeka, Kansas he married Judy Lunnon, she survives. Other survivors include a son, Kevin(Jaime DeJaynes) Jones; siblings Ronald Jones and Vickee Jones; grandsons, Garrett Jones and Nathan Jones, and granddaughter, Zoe Gordon. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Topeka, Kansas.
