Ramona Chiles

Ramona Valentine Chiles, 50, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, Dec. 18, at her home after a long illness, surrounded by her family.

She was born Feb. 14, 1955 in Topeka, the daughter of Johnie L. and Clara Munoz Grice.

Ramona was a 1990 graduate of Washburn University. She taught 5th Grade at Williams Magnet School for the past ten years. She was a member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church and was studying at the Kansas School of Ministry at the time of her death. She was an avid reader and loved to travel.

Survivors include her parents; a daughter, Nikki Bird and her husband Dan, Topeka; a sister, Rachel Alvarez and her husband Rick, Lenexa; a brother, John Grice and his wife Cheryl, Topeka; and her beloved nieces and nephews.

Ramona will lie in state after 4:00 pm, Tuesday, Dec. 20 at St. David's Episcopal Church with a visitation with the family from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A funeral service with Holy Eucharist will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, Dec. 21 at the church with burial to follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
