Ralph E. Spillers, Sr. 90, of Topeka, passed away, Tuesday, April 3, 2007.
Mr. Spillers was born March 25, 1917 in Argena, AR the son of John and Belle Spillers. He served in the Fort Riley Horse Cavalry from 1936 until 1939. He then entered the US Army Air Corps and served the majority of his duty with the 1st Observation Squadron in Panama from 1941-1945. He was discharged as a 2nd LT.
He worked as an Orifice Meter Technician 35 years with Kansas Power and Light Company.
Mr. Spillers was a member of the United Methodist Church of the Cross and the Veterans of Foreign Wars both in Salina, KS.
He married Betty Louise Estes July 3, 1941 in Junction City, KS. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Ralph Spillers, Jr., Overland Park, KS, Jim Spillers, Chesterfield, MO, three grandchildren, three great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m Saturday, April 7, 2007 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Mr. Spillers will lie in state and the family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.
