Rafael Pena Macias

Rafael Pena Macias, 60, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2006 at his home. He was born on May 26, 1945 in Corpus Christi, TX, the son of Rafael M. and Juliana Pena Macias. He resided in Topeka since July of 2004. He was a career Navy veteran, serving 20 years before retiring in December of 1984. He was a member of Western Hills Baptist Church. Rafael married Elida Silvas on June 8, 1968 in Corpus Christi, TX. She survives. Other survivors include one son, Rafael L. Macias and his wife, Jemma of Mechanicsburg, PA, two daughters, Debra Y. Buschman and her husband, Greg of Palm Harbor, FL, Denise Y. Martinek and her husband, Darren of Topeka and eleven grandchildren, Christiane, Andrew, Jessica, Nikki, Diana, Luke, Megan, Sophia, Christian, Courtlyn and Cameron. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Leavenworth National Cemetery where military honors will be presented by a Navy burial detail. Burial will follow. Rafael will lie in state after Noon Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday evening.
