Quentin S. Reed, 89, of Keller, TX, formerly of Topeka, passed away Monday, May 25, 2009 at Harris Methodist Hospital – HEB in Bedford, TX. He was born March 11, 1920 in Topeka. He was the son of Wade A. Reed and Helen Reed Rosenthal.
Quentin was a 1938 graduate of Topeka High School. He was a military veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the South Pacific during WWII. Mr. Reed was the president and owner of Midwest Office Suppliers, which was established in 1953 with his father, Wade Reed, and Roy Wiedwald. He was a former member of Shawnee Country Club, the Shriners, the American Legion and the Elks Club. Quentin was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Thelma Rieniets Reed.
Survivors include his daughter, Sherry Hannay and husband Dick of Conroe, TX, his son, Butch Reed and wife Sue of Ft. Worth, TX, eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital, 2001 S. Lindbergh Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63131. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 29 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town, 1321 Southwest Tenth St, Topeka. Graveside services will be held at Grantville Cemetery, Grantville, KS at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 30. A reception will be held at Lexington Park Independent Living, 1011 SW Cottonwood Ct., Topeka following the service. Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
