Portia L. Metz, 73, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2021.
She was born June 5, 1947, in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Richard and Mary (Harbaugh) Adkins. She graduated from Topeka High School.
Portia devoted her life to being a dedicated Mother and Grandmother, she treasured every moment with them. Portia never met a stranger, to her every person was just a friend she hadn't met yet. She always saw the good in people. Sometimes that's all she would see, even if no one else could see it.
Portia was an avid Jayhawk fan. And enjoyed vacationing in Colorado. Her cooking and baking skills were always top-notch, a skill she inherited from her Mother.
Portia married Jack Metz. They later divorced. Survivors include her sons, Bradley C. Metz and Michael F. Metz; grandchildren, Katie Elizabeth Metz, Parker C. Metz, Austin R. Metz, and Noah J. Metz. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Celebration of her Life will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 16, 2021 at the Penwell-Gabel, 1321 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka. The family will greet friends thirty minutes prior to the service.
