Pomeroy Emerson

Emerson M. Pomeroy, 86, Topeka, died Saturday, January 24, 2004, at Midland Hospice House.

He was born June 28, 1917, in Topeka, son of Charles F. and Ada F. Pomeroy. He grew up in the Oakland area and was a lifelong resident of Topeka. He attended Washburn University where he received a Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Business Administration, and also a law degree in 1963.

Mr. Pomeroy worked for the Santa Fe Railway for 24 years and was Assistant Auditor of Disbursements when he retired to practice law in 1965. He was a partner in the Pomeroy and Pomeroy law firm until he retired in 1992. He and his wife, Elsa, spend their retirement years traveling throughout the U.S. and Canada, and spent winters in Mission, Texas.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elsa H. Pomeroy, two daughters, Adine Martin and Diane Pomeroy of Topeka, and three sons, Stan Pomeroy, Overland Park, and David B. Pomeroy and Victor Pomeroy, Topeka. An infant daughter, Marilyn Kay Pomeroy, preceded him in death in 1944. Other survivors include a sister, Mary McNish, and two brothers Charles P. Pomeroy and Elwaine F. Pomeroy, all of Topeka. Four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also survive him.
