Phyllis Wachsnicht, 76, of Topeka, passed away at her residence on Dec. 15, 2009. She was born on March 31, 1933, in Manchester, KS, the daughter of Herman and Edith Elsasser. On August 5, 1951, in Clay Center, KS, she married Harlan Wachsnicht. He survives.
Phyllis was a 1951 graduate of Clay County Community High School. She and Harlan moved to Texas while he served in the United States Air Force until 1955, before moving back to Kansas. Phyllis was employed with Venture in Topeka until there closing. She was an amazing cook, loved flowers and gardening, dancing, spending time with her family.
Survivors include: her husband Harlan; sons Rick Wachsnicht, Rod (wife Pam) Wachsnicht, and Greg (fiancée Victoria) Wachsnicht, all of Topeka; sister, Janice Carver of Clay Center; and grandchildren, Amy, Dylan, Alex, and Christian.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 21, at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Phyllis will lie in state after 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 20, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Alzheimer's Association, 4125 SW Gage Center Dr., Ste.
