Phyllis Ann Terpening

Phyllis Ann Terpening, 86, of Topeka, passed away Monday, July 24, 2023.

She was born March 31, 1937, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Charles and Vera (Logan) Spaulding. She attended Topeka High School.

Phyllis owned an in-home daycare so that she could stay home with her kids as they grew up.
She was a dedicated member of Grace United Methodist Church, of Topeka. Phyllis was a previous member of the Rebekah's.

Phyllis loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them at family gatherings. She enjoyed playing cards and board games with her neighbors and friends. She was incredible at making candy, especially around Christmas time. Phyllis loved traveling with Jack and they often went to Michigan to visit family and Branson. They were a part of a senior traveling group. She often watched KU basketball, KC royals and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Phyllis married Jack Terpening on May 16, 1958 in Topeka, KS.

She leaves behind her children, Teri Lynn Fincham, Linda (Mark) Sue Troxell, Tina Louise Terpening and Dennis (Cara) Ray Terpening; seven grandchildren, Dani, Jessica, Michael, Nic, Dawn, Cian and Warren; two great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Terpening; daughter, Darla Jean Terpening; her parents; brother, Gerald Spaulding; and two grandchildren, Peter and Jason.

A memorial ceremony will be held at 10:00 am., Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Mount Hope Funeral Chapel, 4700 SW 17th St., Topeka, Kansas 66604. Her family will greet friends and relatives one hour before the service. Inurnment will follow the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society PO Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
