Phyllis I. Krause, 97, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Brewster Place in Topeka. She was born August 5, 1918 in Nora, Illinois, the daughter of John and Marie (Woodley) Buche.
Phyllis graduated from Blackburn University in Carlinville, Illinois in 1940. From 1959 - 1966, she lobbied in Washington D.C. for fair housing for the underprivileged. In 1966, she moved to Topeka where she was an active member of First Lutheran Church and was a member of the League of Women's Voters.
Phyllis married Keith S. Krause on September 1, 1940 in Lanark, Illinois. He preceded her in death on September 12, 2002.
Survivors include their children, John K. Krause of Bethesda, Maryland, Pamela Krause Letelier of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Janet Krause Neff of Barronett, Wisconsin, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at First Lutheran Church where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.
