Phyllis B. Prosser, 73, Topeka, died December 12 following a short illness. She was born September 8, 1937 in Dover, the daughter of Kenneth E. and Vera E. Vaught Reeves. She graduated from Topeka High School and was a lifelong Topeka resident.
Phyllis was a member of Central Congregational Church before joining First Congregational Church; a member of Chapter GJ of the PEO Sisterhood and ERC Resource & Referral, where she served as chairperson of the ERC Designers Showhouse in 1998. She formerly was a member of the Topeka Beautification Association.
She married Max W. Prosser on November 13, 1955 in Topeka and had a wonderful 55 years of marriage. He survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Pam Bengtson (Mike) of Austin, TX and Gwen Scheidegger (Gene) of Riceville, TN and two granddaughters, Sloan Bengtson and Sarah Konrade.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Kenneth E. "Bus" Reeves, Sr.
After raising her daughters, she was employed at the Shawnee County Treasurer's Office, Topeka Water Department, Berlin Wheeler and the Ben Franklin Frameshop.
Phyllis was a loving, devoted wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed her many friends. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at First Congregational Church, 17th & Collins, Topeka. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
