Philip B. Menninger, 87, Topeka, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 10, 2016.
He was born September 22, 1928, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of William and Catharine (Wright) Menninger. He graduated with a Bachelor's of Business Administration from Washburn University and was a member of Alpha Delta Fraternity.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged with rank of Master Sergeant. He then entered the Army Reserve where he retired with rank of Captain.
Phil was employed with the Menninger Clinic where he retired after 40 years.
Phil was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He served as past president for both the Topeka Lions Club and Boys and Girls Club of Topeka.
An avid cyclist, Phil was a founding member of the Kaw Valley Bicycle Touring Club (now Kaw Valley Bicycle Club.) He was also an active computer user and a member of the Topeka PC Users Club. He enjoyed creating publications for service organizations, clubs and community groups.
Phil married Georgia Haid on May 16, 1959 in St. Louis, Missouri. She preceded him in death on March 1, 2015.
Survivors include his daughters, Beverly Menninger and Susan (Kenneth) Krause; brothers, Roy and Walter Menninger and grandsons, Alexander Kovalenko, Zachary Krause and Tyler Krause.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 2 pm at First Presbyterian Church, 817 SW Harrison Avenue, Topeka, KS 66612.
