Perry D. Wasserstein, 70, died Tuesday, January 3, 2006, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka.
Born March 26, 1935, in Denver, Colorado, Mr. Wasserstein served for 20 years in the US Air Force. His last tour of duty was at Forbes Air Force Base, and he and his family settled in Topeka when he retired from the service. He married the former Elizabeth Sporn of Houston, Texas, on January 8, 1955, in Houston. Last winter they celebrated 50 years of marriage. During his 20 years of military service, Mr. Wasserstein was twice stationed overseas, as well as numerous stations in the US. In his first years of service, he played trumpet for the Strategic Air Command Band. After retiring from the military, he was a loan officer at what is now Kansas Super Chief Credit Union for many years until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, Topeka; his brother, Paul Wasserstein (and his wife Paulette), Denver; three sons, Ron Wasserstein (and his wife Sherry) and Lonnie Wasserstein, of Topeka, and F. Michael Wasserstein (and his wife Lydia), of Lincoln, NE; and 12 grandchildren.
A Graveside service was held on Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at Mount Hope Cemetery.
