Peggy Lou Noble, 92, passed away on August 3, 2023 in Topeka.
Peggy was born on May 23, 1931, to William and Alma Grace (Cherry) McVay of La Plata, Missouri. She was reared there, graduating from La Plata High School in 1949.
Peggy had many loves in life—Coca Cola, sunbathing, and popcorn, to name a few—but the love of her life was Joseph Noble. They met young, and married on February 15, 1951. They were blessed with one child, Betsy. The family followed Joseph as he completed his education at Truman College and Stanford, and were with him as he climbed the corporate ladder at The Fleming Company, moving from Kirksville to Gladstone in Missouri, then to Wichita, and finally to Topeka in 1976, where Peggy remained for the rest of her life. Joseph passed away in 1999.
Peggy was many things. She was tough—a 63-year breast cancer survivor. She loved the natural world—puttering in her garden, birdwatching, casting lines into the lake from her backyard. She loved to entertain—always cooking, always entertaining family and friends. She loved to sing—high soprano, naturally—and no doubt is already lined up to audition for the choir of angels. And, we cannot forget that she loved the color red, always making sure to have on bright red lipstick before leaving the house.
"Beeda", as her family called her, is survived by her daughter, Betsy Keeler, of Clearwater, KS; grandchildren Paula Wertz (Justin) and Jonathan Keeler (Amanda) of Maize, KS and Stephen Keeler (Vanessa) of Haysville, KS; great-grandchildren Riley, Zach, Reese, Bella, Michael, Valisity, Viviana, Sephryn, and Sarryan.
Waiting for her in the next life are her husband, her parents, and her two sisters Edna Pearl and Lola Belle, with whom she shared many, many adventures.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on August 19, 2023 at the Mount Hope Cemetery Chapel in Topeka, with visitation beginning an hour prior to the service. Friends and family are encouraged to bring with them stories and memories of their precious Beeda.
Burial will take place at Mt. Hope Cemetery, immediately after services.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, in honor of Peggy and Joseph Noble.
