Pearl Oletha Alfrey, 88, of Topeka, passed on Monday, May 22, 2006 in Topeka. She was born on December 1, 1917 in Ozawkie, the daughter of John and Bertha Asher Hudson. She was raised in rural Jefferson County. She came to Topeka following her marriage. They lived in Topeka for 15 years and then moved to Tecumseh where they lived for 19 years before returning to Topeka. She was a homemaker, worked in the Cafeteria at Tecumseh North Grade School, was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church and Helena Chapter #210 O.E.S. She loved gardening and crocheting. She married Everett A. Alfrey on November 2, 1932 at Oskaloosa. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by 6 brothers, 3 sisters, 1 daughter, 1 grandson and 1 great-granddaughter. Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Simpson of Meriden, 2 sons, Randy Alfrey of Topeka, David Alfrey of Alta Loma, CA, 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. She will lie in state after 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday evening.
