Pauline H. Yockey

September 14, 1931 — September 29, 2024

Pauline (Hall) Yockey, Waukesha, WI, formerly from Topeka, KS passed away on September 29th, after a short illness and was surrounded by family. She was born at home in Wichita on September 14, 1931, on the 20th birthday anniversary of her mother. She was the first child of Floyd W and Rose Velair (Whiteley) Hall. She spent her early years in Wichita and then moved with her family to Arkansas City, Kansas, where she completed High School in 1950 and Junior College in 1952. She moved to Emporia and received her Bachelor degree in Business in 1954 with a major in accounting. Pauline was active in many college activities and organizations. She moved to Topeka for her first job at the Topeka Trade School and then served as administrator for Drs. Tappen, Roy & Gleason. In future years they added more doctors to the practice and needed a name change. The doctors had a contest to name the growing clinic and Pauline won the contest and $100 prize money by proposing “Lincoln Center OB-GYN” as the new name. Pauline worked at Lincoln Center until her retirement in 1988.

Pauline was married to Wendell Eugene Yockey on March 13, 1966 in Topeka, KS. He preceded her in death on March 19, 2016. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers James (Jim) Floyd Hall, Henry Howard Hall and niece Lara Hall. She is survived by two children: Paul David Yockey (Denna) of Asheville, NC and Wendy Claire (Yockey) Beaster (Gregg) of Shorewood, WI; two grandchildren, Jillian Rose and Landon Edward Beaster; nephew Kevin Hall, cousins and many cherished friends. Pauline enjoyed traveling, Eastern Star, playing Sequence and bowling for many, many years. To her family and friends, she always had a smile and was available to help no matter what was asked of her.

The Order of the Eastern Star was a very important part of Pauline’s life. She was initiated into Beulah Chapter #34 on March 21, 1959 in Topeka and met “Wonderful Wendell” in 1963 when he visited Beulah Chapter. She served as Worthy Matron in 1965 and was on several committees. Pauline’s involvement in her local and state Chapters led to her being elected Worthy Grand Matron of Kansas Grand Chapter in 1978 and presided over the “Garden of Faith” session in 1979. She continued to serve in various elected offices and was appointed Worthy Grand Ruth for General Grand Chapter for a three-year term in 1997. She and Wendell were able to travel throughout the United States and various countries where they had chapters. When Wendell could not travel with her, a dear friend Betty Jo Goodman traveled with her. Pauline was elected Secretary of the International Grand Treasurers’ Association for the 2003-2006 triennium, acting President at the 2006-2009 triennium, due to the death of the President and then served as President the years 2009-2012. Another honor bestowed on Pauline was to be appointed Grand Representative of Colorado in Kansas for the years 2019-2021. She cherished the many friendships that she made through her many years of membership in the Order of the Eastern Star.

Pauline was a life long member of the Christian Church and was active in the youth group and sang in the choir. She was a 25 year member of the Daughter’s of the American Revolution, a member of the Social Order of the Beauceant and the Past Matrons and Past Patrons Club of Beulah Chapter. Pauline was founder of the Beulah Emeralds Service Club and founder and owner of her own company, The Pearls of Pauline on March 5th, 1987. She sold ladies formal wear for 34 years. Pauline enjoyed bowling and was proud to have bowled a 600 game once during her years of bowling in a league.
