Pauline Miller, 103, passed away Friday, January 16, 2009 in Omaha, NE.
Pauline was born June 30, 1905 in Papinsville, MO. She has been a resident of Topeka since 1944. During WWII, she worked as an inventory clerk at the bomb factory. Pauline was employed by Butner's and Fally's Grocery store prior to getting married. Pauline was dedicated to serving others. She was a long-time member of Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 462, Order of the Amaranth, the White Shrine of Jerusalem, Trinity Shrine #7, Ancient Toltec Rite, Rebekah, Fraternal Order of the Eagles, and Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 1650, where she received the President's Volunteer Service Award. She has volunteers over 1000 hours of service to Col Mary-O'Neil VA Medical Center.
Pauline is survived by her daughter, Barbara and son-in-law, Walt Walker. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 24 great-great-grandchildren, in addition to her large family of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Karl Miller, her oldest child, Betty Jean, who died at a young age, twins; Joe Bain and Jolyne and son-in-law, Chuck Heiserman.
Pauline will lie in state after 3:00 pm on Tuesday, January 20th, with visitation to be held from 6-8 pm, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January, 21st, 11:00 am, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, with entombment to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Reverend Beverly McCurdy will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
