Pauline D. "Pat" Lasswell, 99, of Topeka, passed away September 23, 2014.
Pat was born in Linn County, Kansas on September 3, 1915, to J.W. and Laura P. (Moore) O'Hara. Pat attended high school in Blue Mound, Kansas, graduating in 1933. She attended Strickler's Business College in Topeka from 1934 to 1935. After graduating from Business College, Pat spent six years from 1936 to 1942 working in Lincoln, Nebraska, for the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Pat returned to Kansas in 1942 and worked for the Hercules Powder Plant in DeSoto. She later worked for the Baldwin-Ward Manufacturing Company in Ottawa then moved to Topeka, where she worked at a CPA office and for the National Insurance Company.
After her marriage, she helped her husband in the restaurant business in the Topeka area for many years before retiring in 1965. She moved from Topeka to Pomona, Kansas in 1969 and from Pomona to Ottawa in 1976. At the time of her death, Pat resided with a nephew and his wife, Larry and Brenda O'Hara in Topeka.
Pat married Cecil L. Lasswell on June 1, 1946. Cecil died on February 21, 1992.
Pat is survived by one brother, Dale (Norma) O'Hara of Ottawa, and one sister Mildred Hamilton of Dallas, Oregon.
She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Jack O'Hara, Centerville, Kansas, and Raymond O'Hara, Mankato, Kansas, and four sisters, Ardis Lee O'Hara who died in infancy, Dorothy Ward, Ottawa, Kansas, Nona Guey, Lincoln City, Oregon, and Sheila Light, Conifer, Colorado.
The family request in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to Grace Hospice, c/o Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66604.
A time of gathering will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Saturday, September 27, 2014, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, Topeka.
