Pauline Clara (Vogel) Eberwein, passed away at the age of 95, Monday, August 10, 2015.
She was born February 26, 1920, in Topeka, the daughter of Martin and Ottilie (Hochhaus) Vogel. She was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Topeka.
Pauline graduated from Topeka High School in 1937, and attended Strickler Business College in Topeka. She married Leonard Rex Eberwein in November 1941. He preceded her in death in 1991. Together they owned and operated Traveler Motel/Trailer Park in Topeka until their retirement.
She was a compassionate caregiver her entire lifetime, attending to her sister and in later years, caring for her parents and her mother-in-law.
She was a tireless knitter and for years donated items to the St. John's Lutheran Church Bazaar and the Topeka Rescue Mission. She was a former member of the Topeka Genealogical Society. She conducted extensive genealogy research for over 50 years. She traveled to Germany in conjunction with her research. She raised Long-Coat Chihuahuas, was a former member of the Topeka Kennel Club.
In addition to her husband, Pauline was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Marcella Vogel.
She is survived by her daughter, Grace (Dennis Etzel, Sr.) Eberwein, Topeka; three sons, Leonard Jr. (Mary) Eberwein, Olathe, Kenneth (Sheryel) Eberwein, Riverside, Calif, and Richard (Patricia) Eberwein, Topeka; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 14, 2015, at the Mount Hope Chapel, 4700 SW 17th Street, Topeka, KS. A visitation will be held prior to the service at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
