Paula Nadine Maus McClure, 72, Topeka, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2004, at her home.
She was born June 28, 1931, in Shawnee County, Kansas to John Harvey and Cleo Mae Franklin Maus. She graduated from Rossville Rural High School in 1948 and attended Clark's School of Business. She began her career with the Santa Fe Railway's Telegraph Department in September 1949. In 1961, she joined Security Benefit Life Insurance Co. as a secretary in the Public Relations Dept. She retired as Senior Vice President of Human Resources from Security Benefit Group on June 28, 1991. While at SBG she earned the Chartered Life Underwriters and Fellow, Life Office Management Institute designations. She was past member of the Greater Topeka Chamber of Commerce Downtown Rotary Club, the Administrative Management Society, past secretary for International Training in Communications, Eastern Star, First Baptist Church, and served on the Board of Directors for the YWCA and Volunteer Center of Topeka.
Mrs. McClure married James Eugene McClure, Sr. on February 5, 1951 in Clovis, N.M. who preceded her in death on July 6, 1996. Survivors include a son, James Eugene McClure, Jr., Dunlap, Illinois and three daughters, Jon Cruver, Ottawa, Jo McClure and Jaye Conner both of Topeka, and six grandchildren survive. She is also survived by two sisters, Julia M. Smith Harveyville and Ardeth R. Auldridge, Azel, Texas and two brothers, Paul Harvey Maus, Emmett and Elwyn Lynn Maus, Lawrence.
A funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 15, 2004, at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow the service at West Lawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. McClure will lie in state after 1:00 p.m., Wednesday with family visitation from 7-8:00 p.m.
