Paul Stuenkel, Jr.

Paul Lloyd Stuenkel, Jr. 71, Topeka, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2008 at his home.

He was born July 24, 1937 in Topeka, the son of Paul and Marguerite (Knauer) Stuenkel. He attended Randolph Elementary School, Boswell Junior High School and graduated from Topeka High School in 1955. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Colorado University in Boulder in 1959.

He was employed by the Federal Reserve Bank in San Francisco for 10 years and then returned to Topeka to open Paul's Record store in Westboro Mart. After closing his record store he became a certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor and was employed by Stormont-Vail Hospital and later St. Francis Hospital. He was presently working as an independent counselor in the office of Dr. James Warren.

He was active in professional organizations and he attended and conducted counseling seminars.

He is survived by his sister, Judy Soule, and brother-in-law, Edward, Topeka; nephew, Steven Soule, Long Beach, CA; niece, Sharon Soule and her husband, Tom Ruddy and their children, Julia and Sean, Lawrence. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Private family burial will take place in Mount Hope Cemetery. A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Paul and Marguerite Stuenkel Scholarship Fund, C/o Washburn Endowment Association, 1729 SW MacVicar Ave, Topeka, Kansas 66604 or the charity of the donor's choice.
