Patti Jo (Sippel) Lindley, 91, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2021.
She was born August 23, 1929, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Floyd and Dorothea (Branson) Sippel. She graduated from Topeka High School. Jo later attended Clark Business College in Topeka and Kansas State University.
As a legal secretary, she worked for Attorney Joe French, the office of the Clerk of the Kansas Supreme Court and Kansas Supreme Court Justice Earl O'Connor. Her final employment was with the Federal District Court in Kansas City, Kansas.
Patti Jo was a member of the Central Park Christian Church, of Topeka. She was also heavily involved in the P.E.O. Chapter FI of Topeka.
Jo enjoyed crocheting, gardening, landscaping, entertaining, sewing, decorating, car racing of all kinds, playing bridge and Royals baseball. She had an incredibly compassionate heart and gave to those in need. She was known for her cooking and baking, especially fried chicken, cinnamon rolls, and apple pie.
Jo married Jim Lindley on June 3, 1972 in Topeka, Kansas. He preceded her in death on August 11, 2015. Survivors include her daughter, Lynda (Jim) Smallback; two grandsons, Joshua (Angela) Smallback and Seth (Jennifer) Smallback; one great granddaughter, Riley Smallback; niece, Susan Liening; and nephew, Jack Sippel. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jack (Ardie) Sippel.
The family will greet family and friends for a visitation on Friday, March 12, 2021 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home, 1321 SW 10th Ave, Topeka, KS 66604. A funeral ceremony will be held on Saturday, March 13th at 11:00am at First Southern Baptist Church, 1912 SW Gage Blvd, Topeka, KS 66604. Interment will follow at Grantville Cemetery.
