Patrick R. Huntley, PhD, 89, Topeka, KS died Monday, September 30, 2013.
Dr. Huntley was born January 7, 1924 in Newton, KS the son of George D. and Verna G. (Daves) Huntley.
He attended schools in Pawnee City, NE and Emporia, KS. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II where he was assigned to the weather service. He graduated from Washburn University in 1951 and received his MA and PhD from the University of North Carolina.
He served on faculties of Duke and George Washington Universities and the University of Mississippi and in the same capacity plus administration at the Universities of Arizona and Arkansas. He also received a post doctorate fellowship with the Census Bureau in Washington DC. He also was a consultant or adviser to numerous federal agencies and private companies; appeared as an expert witness in many court cases, and prepared analyses and other economic evaluation for many tort cases settled out of court. He retired after 34 years in the education field.
Dr. Huntley married Margaret Elizabeth Mullis on December 9, 1945 in Charlotte, NC. She survives. He was preceded in death by a son, Mikel Huntley; and brother, Lawrence Huntley. Survivors include daughter-in-law, Cheryl Ann Huntley; granddaughters Malinda Elspeth Huntley, Holly Ann Huntley-Cooper; and sister-in-laws, Katsuka Huntley and Mary A. Hinson.
Dr. Huntley donated his body to the University Of Kansas Medical Center. No services are planned at this time and private family inurnment will be at a later date.
