Patricia Ruth Miller, 72, passed away July 8, 2004, in Terre Haute, Indiana. Pat was born November 18, 1931, in Chamberlain, South Dakota to Lloyd and Ida Gramm Smith. She and her family moved to Topeka, Kansas, when she was in junior high. She graduated from Topeka High School where she met her future husband James Robert Miller. Pat and Jim settled in Marion, Iowa in the late 1950s where they would raise two sons, Zachary and Matthew. After a brief stay in the Chicago area, Pat and Jim moved to Brazil, Indiana where they have resided the past 17 years. Fun-loving, caring and creative, Pat was a friend to all she met. She will be greatly missed by many, especially her beloved husband of 52 years, Jim Miller; adored sons and daughters-in-law, Zachary and Jo Ellen Miller of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Matthew and Barrie Miller of Van Nuys, California; brother Charles Smith of Canon City, Colorado; sisters Joan Miller of Topeka, Kansas, Darla Jenkins of Chesnee, South Carolina, and Nellie Stultz of Canon City, Colorado; doted-upon grandchildren, Ian, Nate and Wyatt Miller; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Mrs. Miller will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening.
