Patricia H. Delano
Charles(Jay) Delano, along with children Doug ,Steve and Tricia, sadly announce the death of his wife and their mother Patricia H.(Pat) Delano on Wednesday, March 22, 2006.
Patricia was born in Winfield, Kansas to Winchel H. and Helen L. Hamilton on October 7, 1926. Pat graduated from Hutchinson High School and was an alumnus of Penn Hall and the University of Kansas. October 11, 1947 she wed Charles F. Delano, Jr.
Pat will be remembered as a long-standing and tireless volunteer in innumerable charitable organizations. At the time of her death, she was an active member of P.E.O., the Daughters of the King, the Hospital Auxiliary, Junior League, Topeka Youth Project, YWCA, ERC, the Pi Beta Phi Sorority, and a lifelong patron and member of the Episcopal Church.
Pat died quietly in her home of cancer with her family beside her. Pat is survived by her husband Jay, son Douglas, his wife Lynn, their daughters Melissa and Stephanie and son Ian; son Steve, his wife Patti, their son Brad and wife Emily, and son Winchell; and daughter Tricia, her son Jeremy, wife Marina and daughter Jayda, and daughter Joscelyn and son Toby; and Pat's sister Suzanne Hamilton. in additon to her family,our matriarch leaves a legacy of love and service to others. She also leaves the spirit of adventure, eating dessert first, an estimated 500 pairs of size 7 1/2 tennis shoes, at least 100 denim shirts, 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, and her dogs Sam and Sara. She was adored and will be greatly missed by all.
The family will greet friends from 3:30 to 5:00 pm, Saturday March 25 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Sunday March 26 at Grace Episcopal Cathedral in Topeka.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Patricia's name to St. Francis Academy in Ellsworth, Ellsworth, KS 67439 or to Grace Episcopal Cathedral, 701 SW. 8th St., Topeka, Kansas 66603.
