Patricia Ann Gastrock Cooper, 64, loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother, died late Thursday, June 28, 2007 at her home. She was born September 8, 1942 north of Paxico, Kansas, the daughter of E. S. "Dutch" Gastrock and Loubelle L. Reiners Gastrock. She was preceded in death by her parents.
As a child, she lived in Topeka, and Manhattan, attending public schools there. Her family and she moved to Phillipsburg, Kansas in 1959. She graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 1960.
Patricia graduated from Kansas State Teachers College, Emporia in 1964. She taught kindergarten and first grade for many years, first at Irving Elementary School in Wichita and then Linn Elementary School in Topeka. Patricia was a beloved teacher who touched hundreds of lives. Teaching reading was a true calling to her.
She was an avid participant in athletic endeavors until her illness intervened. She was a president of the moms club for her sons' fraternity, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, at the University of Kansas.
Patricia was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Topeka.
On July 11, 1964 she was united in marriage at the First Congregational Church in Emporia to Anthony Bruce Cooper, Phillipsburg. He survives of the home. Other survivors include two sons; Kevin and his wife Carolyn, their two children, Grace and Christopher, of Waxhaw, NC; and Kyle and his wife, Stacey, of Shawnee. Her family was the joy of her life.
Patricia was cremated and graveside services will be held 9:30 A.M. Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at the Wells Creek Cemetery, 25171 Wells Creek Road, five miles north and three miles west of Paxico.
