Owen H. Schultz, 86, Topeka, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015.
Owen was born July 31, 1928 in Buhler, the son of Henry Abraham and Susie Anna (Unruh) Schultz. He graduated from Melvern High School in 1947 and attended Washburn University.
He was employed by Seymour Foods in Research & Development, developing egg handling equipment. He retired in 1994 after 41 years of service.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church for 55 years, where he served as an Elder, Deacon, and ushered at the First Service. He also enjoyed making furniture and was a member of the Sawdusters Woodworking group.
Owen married Roberta Swenson Hughes on October 24, 1959. His wife of 55 years survives. Other survivors include step-son, Michell (Wileta) Hughes, Denison; grandchildren, Michael Kelly and wife Pam Hughes, Lori Kelley, Jerad Hughes; brother, Wayne (Mavis) Schultz, Pickerington, OH; and numerous special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel.
