Oscar W. Albrecht, 92, passed away Monday, July 11, 2016, at McCrites Plaza, Topeka.
Oscar was born October 20, 1923, in Herington, KS, to Frederick P. and Dora A. (Lawrenz) Albrecht. He received his bachelors from Kansas State University and a masters from Iowa State University. He flew C-47s transports in Europe during WWII in the Army Air Corps. Oscar was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church and loved singing in the church choir. He loved keeping busy taking bus trips, working on genealogy, and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Olivene (Morey) Albrecht; parents; brother, Werner Frederick Albrecht; and sisters, Selma Ann Finke, and Lillian C. Pagenkopf.
Oscar is survived by his two children, Rev. Aaron Albrecht and his wife, Lynette, of Stewart, MN, and Dr. Ann A. Reyes, of Cheyenne, WY; one grandson, Che' (Jose') M. Reyes and his wife, Hannah; two granddaughters, Cassidy and Jessica Albrecht; and sisters, Ella Mae Shilling, Lorna M. Lehner, and Orena E. Young.
A funeral ceremony will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 725 SW Buchanan Street, Topeka, KS 66606. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Powhattan Cemetery, Powhattan, KS. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave, Topeka.
