Orinda H. Avey, 100, of Topeka, passed away on August 14, 2023 in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
She was born on December 9, 1922 to Henry and Matilda (Wulfkuhle) Stull in Lawrence, Kansas.
Orinda worked as Cook for Wannamaker Elementary School, and later as a Dairy Testing Lab Technician for the Kansas State Board of Agriculture.
On September 29, 1947 she married Irven C. Avey in Stull, Kansas. Orinda and Irven lived in Lawrence, Kansas briefly and built their own home in 1952 in Topeka and resided there until 2019.
She was a member of First Congregational Church, and Eastern Star Grand Chapter in Topeka, Kansas
Orinda is survived by her daughters; Delores "Dee" Miller, Deborah (Steve) Esquibel, grandchildren; Heather (Robert) Black, Amber (Tracie) Rome, Tanner (Collin) Miller-Nasalroad, Kiel (Angelique) Esquibel, Angela (John) Esquibel - Montaque, Christopher (Jenna) Esquibel, great-grandchildren; Hunter Black, Evan (Jewel) Black, Trent (Jesica) Black, Talynn Rome, Taityn Rome, Tristan Miller-Nasalroad, Jaxon Esquibel, Addyson Esquibel, Kelsey Esquibel-Renyer, Camryn Esquibel, Jordan Esquibel, Lannah Esquibel, Kennedy Esquibel, Brendan Esquibel, seven great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Irven C. Avey, father; Henry Stull, mother; Matilda Stull, sisters; Alberta Casey, Evelyn Stull, Eola Casey, Zella Stull, Mary Ann Johanning, Luella Rinard, and son in-law; Darrell Miller.
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 26, 2023, 10:00 am at First Congregational Church, 1701 SW Collins Ave, Topeka, Kansas 66604.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023, 11:00 am at the First Congregational Church, 1701 SW Collins Ave, Topeka, Kansas 66604, with Reverend Tobias Schlingensiepen, officiating.
Interment will take place on immediately following service, at West Lawn Memorial Gardens 820 SW Auburn Rd, Topeka, KS 66615.
