Orel Vivian Anderson, 89, of Topeka, passed away on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2005 at Midland Hospice House.
Mrs. Anderson was born January 22, 1916 in Mooreland, OK, the daughter of Tilton and Stella Johnson Elwood.
She married Errol Ray Anderson on June 25, 1935. They moved to Topeka in 1943. He preceded her in death in 1972.
She was a member of West Side Baptist Church and was active as a Sunday School teacher, Circle Leader in ABW, was a Deaconess and served on various committes.
She was an Education Advocate with Families Together, Inc., and volunteered at Cappers for many years. She was a foster parent to over 100 children from 1957.
Survivors include a son, Errol W. Anderson, Topeka and a daughter, Rita D. Furman, Kingsville, TX, a foster son, Joseph Newton, Russell., 5 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2005 at 1:00 P.M. at the West Side Baptist Church. Mrs. Anderson will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel after 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday and visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M.
