Ora J. Hornbeck, 76, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2005 at a Topeka care facility. He was born on June 3, 1929 in El Dorado Springs, MO, the son of Ora and Mina Lovins Hornbeck. He graduated from El Dorado Springs High School and attended business college. He was an Army veteran. He resided in Topeka since 1970. Ora was employed by Calhoun's Department Store, Ray Beers Clothing and Dillards before retiring. He married Mildred M. Ewing on July 14, 1962 in Miami, OK. She survives. Other survivors include one son, Kent Hornbeck of Murray, Utah, one granddaughter, Camie Merrill, two great-grandchildren , Kylie Merrill, Carson Merrill, one step-son, David Ewing of Topeka, two sisters, Patty Goyette of Omaha, NE and Loretta Wood of El Dorado Springs, MO. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m.Tuesday at Mount Hope Chapel Mausoleum. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Mr. Hornbeck will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Alzheimer's Association, 515 S.
